Ryan Hendrix

Ryan Matthew Hendrix (born December 16, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Hendrix attended Cypress Woods High School in Cypress, Texas.[1] He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 17th round of the 2013 MLB draft, but did not sign and attended Texas A&M University.[1] In 2015, Hendrix played for the United States collegiate national team.[2][3] Against Cuba, Hendrix, Tanner Houck, and A. J. Puk combined to throw a no-hitter.[4] Hendrix was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 5th round, with the 138th overall selection, of the 2016 MLB draft, and signed with them.[5][6]

Hendrix split his professional debut season of 2016 between the Billings Mustangs and the Dayton Dragons, going a combined 3–1 with a 3.57 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 35 13 innings.[7] He split the 2017 season between Dayton and the Daytona Tortugas, going a combined 5–5 with a 2.90 ERA and 88 strikeouts over 62 innings.[8] He spent the 2018 season with Daytona, going 4–4 with a 1.76 ERA and 79 strikeouts over 51 innings.[9][10] He split the 2019 season between the Arizona League Reds and the Chattanooga Lookouts, going a combined 4–0 with a 1.85 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 24 13 innings.[11]

Hendrix was added to the Reds 40–man roster after the 2019 season.[12]

Kyle Holder

Kyle Patrick Holder (born May 25, 1994) is an American professional baseball shortstop in the Cincinnati Reds organization.[13] He played college baseball at University of San Diego. He was drafted 30th overall by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft.[14]

Holder graduated from University City High School in 2012. After graduating, he enrolled at Grossmont College where he played for their baseball team, posting a .405 batting average with sixty hits and 21 RBIs. After his freshman year at Grossmont, he then enrolled at the University of San Diego where he played baseball for the Toreros. After the 2014 season, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[15] As a junior, he led USD in batting average (.348) and RBIs(31).[16] He was named WCC player of the year. After his junior year, he was drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft. Holder signed with the Yankees for $1.8 million signing bonus.[17]

After signing, the Yankees assigned Holder to the Staten Island Yankees, where he spent the whole season. Holder played for the Charleston RiverDogs in 2016, where he batted .290 with one home run and 18 RBIS, and the Tampa Yankees in 2017 where he batted .271 with four home runs and 44 RBIs.

In 2017, Holder was named as the Best Defensive Shortstop in the minor leagues.[18] Holder was invited to the Arizona Fall League in 2017 and hit .333 over 45 at bats.[19] He was then a non-roster invitee for the New York Yankees spring training in 2018 and started the year with Trenton Thunder.[20] He also spent time during the season with the Charleston RiverDogs and the Trenton Thunder. Over 48 games between the two teams, he hit .257 with three home runs.

The Yankees invited Holder to spring training as a non-roster player in 2019.[21] He spent the year with Trenton, slashing .265/.336/.405 with nine home runs and forty RBIs over 112 games.

On December 10, 2020, Holder was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Rule 5 Draft.[22] On January 30, 2021, Holder was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for cash considerations.[23]

Riley O'Brien

Riley O'Brien (born February 6, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

O'Brien attended Shorewood High School in Shoreline, Washington, where he played baseball.[24][25] He graduated in 2013, and then enrolled at Everett Community College. After two seasons at Everett, he transferred to The College of Idaho. As a junior in 2016, he went 6–3 with a 3.23 ERA and sixty strikeouts over 69 innings.[26] In 2017, his senior year, he pitched to a 3–4 record and a 2.15 ERA over 67 innings.[27] After the season, he was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the eighth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft.[28][29][30]

O'Brien signed with the Rays and made his professional debut that year with the Princeton Rays, going 1–0 with a 2.20 ERA over 11 games (ten starts).[31] During the season, he was named Appalachian League Pitcher of the Week twice.[32] In 2018, he began the season with the Bowling Green Hot Rods (with whom he was named a Midwest League All-Star[33][34] before being promoted to the Charlotte Stone Crabs, with whom he ended the year; over 25 games (13 starts) between both teams, he went 8–4 with a 2.75 ERA.[35] In 2019, he began the season with Charlotte and was promoted to the Montgomery Biscuits in May. Over 20 games (17 starts) with the two clubs, he pitched to a 7–6 record and 3.16 ERA.[36]

On August 28, 2020, the Rays traded O'Brien to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Cody Reed.[37][38] On November 20, 2020, O'Brien was added to the 40-man roster.[39]

Alex Powers

Alexander Daniel Powers (born February 26, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Powers attended Nauset Regional High School in North Eastham, Massachusetts, where he had a 2.20 ERA and 75 strikeouts as a senior in 2010, and Southern New Hampshire University.[40] He played in the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2011 and 2012.[41] He was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 25th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.

Powers was released by the White Sox in 2015 and signed by the Cincinnati Reds in 2016. He was named a Southern League All-Star in 2018 while playing for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.[42] He was added to Cincinnati's 60-man player pool for the 2020 season.[43]

Christian Roa

Christian Michael Roa (born April 2, 1999) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Roa attended Memorial High School in Houston, Texas.[44][45] He played both baseball and football.[46] Undrafted in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, he enrolled at Texas A&M University where he played college baseball for the Aggies.

In 2018, Roa's freshman season, he pitched in 14 games (with one start), pitching to a 4.30 ERA with 12 strikeouts over 14 23 innings.[47] That summer, he played in the Northwoods League.[48] As a sophomore in 2019, he appeared in 17 games (making ten starts), going 3–2 with a 3.56 ERA over 48 innings.[49][50] On March 19, 2019, he was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week after throwing seven scoreless innings against the second ranked Vanderbilt Commodores.[51] In 2020, Roa returned to the Aggies starting rotation. He started four games, pitching to a 2–1 record and a 5.85 ERA over twenty innings before the season was ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[52]

Roa was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round with the 48th overall pick in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft.[53][54][55] He signed with the Reds for $1.5 million.[56][57]

Errol Robinson

Errol Anders Robinson (born October 1, 1994) is an American professional baseball shortstop in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Robinson was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 6th round of the 2016 MLB draft out of the University of Mississippi.[58][59] In 2014, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and returned to the league in 2015 to play for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks where he was named a league all-star.[60][61] He had previously played at St. John's High School in Washington D.C.. He signed, and in his debut season he hit .282 in 55 games for the rookie league Ogden Raptors in 2016 before splitting the 2017 season among the Great Lakes Loons, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and Tulsa Drillers, hitting a combined .270 with seven home runs and 35 RBIs in 95 games. For the 2018 season he returned to Tulsa,[62] slashing .247/.309/.353 with ten home runs, fifty RBIs, and 18 stolen bases in 117 games.[63]

Robinson began 2019 with the Oklahoma City Dodgers.[64] He played in 107 games in 2019, between Oklahoma City and Tulsa, hitting .260.[65] He was claimed by the Cincinnati Reds in the minor league portion of the 2020 Rule 5 Draft.[66]

Alfredo Rodríguez

Alfredo Rodríguez (born June 17, 1994) is a Cuban professional baseball shortstop in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Rodríguez began his professional career in the Cuban National Series for Isla de la Juventud.[67] He was the 2014-15 Rookie of the Year, and won the National Series gold glove award equivalent.[68] Rodríguez defected from Cuba, and signed with the Cincinnati Reds as an international free agent on July 4, 2016.[69] He received a $7 million signing bonus.[70]

Rodríguez played for the DSL Reds in 2016, hitting .234/.314/.299/.613 with 0 home runs, 8 RBI, and 9 stolen bases.[71] He spent the 2017 season with the Daytona Tortugas, hitting .253/.294/.294/.588 with 2 home runs and 36 RBI.[71] He split the 2018 season between the Arizona League Reds, Daytona, and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, hitting a combined .210/.273/.312/.585 with 2 home runs and 15 RBI.[71] He played for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League following the 2018 season.[72] Rodríguez split the 2019 season between the Chattanooga Lookouts and Louisville Bats, hitting a combined .267/.314/.327/.641 with 1 home run and 34 RBI.[73][74]

Tony Santillan

Antonio C. Santillan (born April 15, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Santillan attended Seguin High School in Seguin, Texas. He committed to play college baseball at Texas Tech University.[75] He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.[76][77]

After signing, Santillan made his professional debut with the Arizona League Reds and spent all of his first professional season there, pitching to an 0–2 record and 5.03 ERA in 19 23 innings pitched. He pitched 2016 with both the Billings Mustangs and Dayton Dragons, compiling a combined 3–3 record, 5.19 ERA, and 1.43 WHIP in 15 games started between both teams, and spent 2017 back with Dayton,[78][79] posting a 9–8 record and 3.38 ERA in 25 games (24 starts).[80] He started 2018 with the Daytona Tortugas[81] and was promoted to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos during the season. In 26 combined starts between the two clubs, he was 10–7 with a 3.08 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP.[82] He spent 2019 with the Chattanooga Lookouts, going 2–8 with a 4.84 ERA over 21 starts, striking out 92 over 102 13 innings.

Santillan was added to the Reds 40–man roster after the 2019 season.[12]

Jared Solomon (born June 10, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Solomon attended Millville Area Junior Senior High School in Millville, Pennsylvania and played college baseball at Alderson Broaddus University and Lackawanna College. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 11th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

The Reds added him to their 40-man roster after the 2020 season.[83]
