Description

The council was created in April 2020 by consolidating the former Great Salt Lake, Trapper Trails, and Utah National Parks councils.[3][2] Its initial headquarters are in the same building in Ogden as the former Trapper Trails Council,[1] but the new council retained the website address of the former Utah National Parks Council (utahscouts.org).

Organization

The Crossroads of the West Council serves 9 districts throughout Utah, southeastern Idaho, and southwestern Wyoming.[4]

A Scouting district is a geographical area of the local BSA council, determined by the council executive board. District leaders mobilize resources to ensure the growth and success of units within the district’s territory. All districts are responsible for carrying out four standard functions: membership, finance, program, and unit service.[5]

Camps

The Crossroads of the West Council hires camp counselors annually to serve as handicraft assistants, sports instructors, shooting sports assistants (archery, .22 caliber rifle, BB gun, skeet, and black-powder), trading post operators/managers, maintenance and food service assistants, nature instructors and Scout skills instructors, and lifeguards.[7] The council operates the following camps:[8][9]
