Dakshineswar metro station

Dakshineswar metro station is a station of the Kolkata Metro. The metro station adjoins the platforms of the Dakshineswar railway station where connections can be made with Indian Railways services.[1]

In December 2017, it was reported in The Times of India that the metro line to the Dakshineswar station was projected to be operational by May 2019.[2] Then in February 2019, the metro line to the Dakshineswar station was projected to be operational by February 2020.[3] A slightly delayed March 2020 projected operation date was announced in late 2019.[4] And a July 2020 projected operation date was mentioned in February 2020.[5][6] In June 2019, The Telegraph reported that over 95 percent of the viaduct had been completed for the Noapara-Dakshineswar line, and that work had begun on the signalling system and laying of the tracks.[7]

A railway official has said that "between Noapara and Dakshineswar... there are plans to operate trains every five minutes".[4]

Location

The station is located in Dakshineswar, North Suburban of the Kolkata, on PWD Road (Sitaramdas Omkarnath Sarani) and Ramakrishna Paramhansa Dev Road Crossing. The Station is situated around 300 metres away towards East from Bhabatarini Kali Temple.

Bus route number 2, 26, 26C, 32A, 43, 56, 79, 81/1, 285, DN2, DN2/1, DN9/1, DN43, DN44, DN46, K4, S158 (Mini), S181 (Mini), C23, S15G, S17A, S23A, S32A, S57, AC23A, AC50, AC50A etc. serve the station.[8]

Rail

It is directly connected with Dakshineswar railway station, a station on Calcutta chord link.[9]

Ferry

The station is connected to ferry also through Ma Bhabatarini Jetty Ghat, which is around 350 metres away from the station. Ferry routes towards Uttarpara, Belur Math, Bagbazar, Howrah, Shipping Corporation Ghat (near Millennium Park) and Chandpal Ghat are available.[10]

Air

The station is connected through Belghoria Expressway to the nearest NSCB International Airport, which is around 10 km away.
