Michael and Alice Halkias bought the hall in 1981.[3] Starting in 1986, the pair gained a measure of fame from starring in a series of cheaply shot commercials airing 20 times a day on local TV.[4] In 2019, Saturday Night Live aired a parody of these ads during their 44th season.[5][6]
The Hall is available as a filming location and has been used in The Cotton Club, Prizzi’s Honor, and The Royal Tenenbaums.[7]
The Grand Prospect Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.[1]
