Heisei Ultraseven

Heisei Ultraseven (平成ウルトラセブン) is a Japanese tokusatsu series. The 1994 editions were broadcast on Nippon Television, while the rest were later released direct-to-video.

The Heisei Ultraseven series follows directly from the final episode of the original series, ignoring the M78/Showa continuity altogether and establishing Ultraseven as the only Ultra being to have arrived on Earth in this universe.

Characters

Ultra Garrison

Thirty years have passed since its founding, and the Peace of the Earth has come to a moment of calm. On the other hand, Ultra Garrison, who analyzed the environmental destruction reported from all over the world, have newly laid out environmental monitoring and protection systems that sound alarm to people in view of the defense of the Earth, which is the purpose of its establishment. Currently, one of the members at the time of founding, the new Captain Shigeru Furuhashi and three other people are active. Later, led by Captain Sanshiro Shiragane and his other six members. The TDF, which put the general headquarters in Paris and other branch in Washington, Moscow, London, Berlin, the Arctic, Sydney, Cairo and the Far East base in the Asian region Japan. The Earth Defense Force, which is an organization of strictly defensive only, such as the former Department of Special Corps and Self-Defense Forces, was referred to as TDF (Terrestrial Defence Force). Their uniforms are now grey instead of light blue. They also supports Ultraseven.

1994 team

The second generation of the Ultra Garrison led by Captain Shigeru Furuhashi.

  • Captain Shigeru Furuhashi (Played by Sandayū Dokumamushi)
The new captain of the Ultra Garrison and later promoted to a commander in 1998 series. In the 1999 series, he was killed by Alien Valkyrie but it was later shown that he was somehow revived 10,000 years ago and kept in cold. His mind contained the secrets of the Omega Files. To protect his friend and humanity from that dangerous knowledge (they were not ready for it) he is left on the Moon base to wait for a time when he can share his knowledge. It is the fact that Seven allowed him to keep his live despite having that knowledge, along with intervening against Nonmalt's plant that lead to him being incarcerated in the black nebula in the Horse Head Galaxy. Actor Sandayū Dokumamushi reprises his role as Furuhashi.
  • Kaji (Played by Kagemaru Shigeki)
It is a typical modern young person and a member with a motto of bright. It has a reckless one side to act without thinking about the stubbornness which does not draw easily once deciding once and the future ahead. As a pilot, he boarded the Ultra Hawk #1 and demonstrated his stunning shooting prowess. Kaji later promoted to a commander in the 1999 series after Furuhashi's death. Actor Kagemaru Shigeki who later portrayed as Tetsuo Shinjoh in Ultraman Tiga and also portrayed as Deputy Captain Hironobu Uematsu in Ultraman Neos.
  • Togo (Played by Matsuyama Takashi)
It is a little older than the other members and the behavior is often the key to the members. It is a so-called academic type that always accurately understands the situation and makes a cool decision, but occasionally funny the real face.
  • Risa (Played by Ami Suzuki)
The red one of the Ultra Garrison. While the cute appearance of the young lady's style, in the action Force is not inferior to the male members, in the good Shorinji Kempo is also time to beat a man. Still, the attention and consideration like the woman are not forgotten. The only female member at the time, she is a skilled martial artist and has taken on Alien Metron by herself.

1998/1999/EVOLUTION team

The third generation of the Ultra Garrison led by Captain Sanshiro Shiragane.

  • Captain Sanshiro Shiragane (Played by Koji Nanjo)
Takes over as a new captain of the Ultra Garrison after Captain Furuhashi promoted to a commander. He is a man known for not making rash decisions. He is very intuitive, being that he figured out Kazamori was Ultraseven. He previously had a wife, Shoko (Played by Shimazaki Michiko) who died during a traffic accident to save a child. Both mother and unborn infant died.
  • Kazamori Masaki (Played by Katsuyuki Yamazaki)
The rookie member of the Ultra Garrison and is Seven's first human host. First appearing in the 30th anniversary trilogy, Masaki's identity is always used by Dan, who wishes to help the new generation Ultra Garrison from within. During The Final Chapters special, Kazamori was gravely injured when he allowed to be killed by Dan after Alien Valkyrie attempted to possess him. Seven soon fused with him in a similar manner to Ultraman with Hayata. Although Kazamori is in control of his actions, Seven would use him as a medium when he tried to communicate. During this, Kazamori worked in a similar manner to Dan during his time in the Ultra Garrison, defending the Earth as himself while using the Ultraseven persona when the time calls. In the sixth and final chapter, Kazamori is detained by TDF after being exposed for his connections to Seven. Fortunately, his comrades in the Ultra Garrison help him escape as Dan briefly separates from him and discovers that the Nonmalts tried to commence a war on humanity after exposing their race for being the true invaders. After the battle, Dan/Seven separated from Kazamori and returned the boy after healing him from his previous injuries while he returned to his homeworld to face the punishments for interfering a civil war. In EVOLUTION, Kazamori and Satomi retired from their service in the Ultra Garrison and went on with their separate lives. Kazamori becomes a wanderer later on but forced into the battle again later on and reunited with Seven. Although helping the Ultra Garrison again, he was later labelled as a traitor for defending a Plant Life Form, which claimed to be the Earth's successor until Alien Garut's fabrications were exposed. Seven faced the alien and his monster vanguard Gaimos, and received an encouragement from Satomi's spirit to arise once again and eliminate the alien. In the end, Kazamori retained his connection to Seven and left for parts unknown.
  • Keisuke Shima (Played by Kunio Masaoka)
The deputy captain, the weapons expert and also the resident martial arts expert. He is often paired with Kazamori with whom he shares a similar level of immaturity. Despite this he can be mature when the situation calls for it and is a rather determined fighter in battle.
  • Takuma Mizuno (Played by Koga Wataru)
The tech expert and genius of the team. Mizuno is often the go to guy to explain the science behind certain alien plots and schemes and the situation the team faces.
  • Hayakawa Satomi (Played by Ugawa Kaoru)
She is one of the more mature members of the team, whom was perhaps the first to suspect Kazamori when he was replaced by Ultraseven, perhaps showing concern for him when the two switched places, since Seven would be going into a dangerous situation. Before EVOLUTION series had taken to novel writing. She initially left Ultra Garrison until she decided to return in the beginning of the EVOLUTION series. Later, she with Yuki, befriended a young psychic girl and befriended the alone and bullied child, allowing her to overpower her more evil peers. Satomi also saved the child from a frightened and bigotrous solder taking a bullet meant for the child. Though dying in Kazamori's arms with the help of a Dragonic Saucer she was able to use her life energy to free Ultraseven from the Dark Nebula.
  • Honjou Rumi (Played by Adachi Rieko)
The youngest of the team and the resident communication analyst, she spent most of her time in the control room directing the others in combat or a mission.
  • Kisaragi Yuki (Played by Katsumura Mika)
An orphan, she was raised by a disguised Alien Pegassa who had lost her own child when Pegassa City was destroyed. Ignorant of her step-mother's true nature, she grew up hating aliens for the death of her parents. She joined TDF and was part of the mission that went searching for the Akashic Records, though her memory was erased afterwards. She was later made a part of the Ultra Garrison during what was expected to be its last few days as a spy by a TDF General. Joint as a new member. First appears in EVOLUTION only.
