List of Golden Gate Transit routes
Golden Gate Transit (GGT) operates 28 bus routes including 5 Regional routes and 23 Commute routes.[1] Schedules are updated quarterly to improve schedule reliability and efficiency.[2] Route information listed below is current as of 10 March 2019.[3]
Regional service
Golden Gate Transit operates 5 Regional bus routes. Prior to June 2016, these were known as Basic routes. Routes 30, 40, 70, and 101 provide daily service (including holidays) between San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, and Contra Costa Counties. They use 40-ft buses, except some Route 101 trips on weekends, when 45-ft commuter buses are provided on that route. Route 40X operates during weekday peak periods only.

Early Bird Express service
GGT operates 2 Early Bird Express routes to replace early-morning BART service during seismic retrofitting of the Transbay Tube. Route 704 runs between El Cerrito del Norte Station and the Temporary Transbay Terminal. Route 705 (co-operated with WestCAT and AC Transit) runs between MacArthur Station and the Temporary Transbay Terminal with stops at 19th Street/Oakland Station and in West Oakland.[4]
Marin Transit service
GGT operates service within Marin County on 7 routes under contract with Marin Transit. See Marin Transit for information on Routes 17, 23, 23X, 29, 35, 36, and 71X.
Discontinued service
GGT has operated several different bus routes over the years that have been discontinued or significantly altered.
