  1. The dam once served as a complete road and rail crossing over the river and the locks that bypass the dam. After the most recent expansion of the locks, separate road and rail bridges were built for through traffic. Currently, the former road crossing carries traffic from the west to the dam's powerhouse and visitor center, but does not cross the locks.
