Miss USA 2021

Miss USA 2021 will be the 70th Miss USA pageant. The competition will be held in 2021. Asya Branch of Mississippi will crown her successor at the end of the event. The winner will go on to represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2021 competition.

Background

On December 31, 2020, it was announced on Good Morning America that Miss USA and Miss Teen USA would be split from the Miss Universe Organization into a new organization under the helm of Crystle Stewart. The 2021 edition will mark the first year of the competition under Stewart's directorship. Stewart had previously been crowned Miss USA 2008.[1]

Selection of contestants

Delegates from 50 states and the District of Columbia will be selected in state pageants which began in September 2020. The first state pageants were Idaho and Montana, held together on September 27, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, Miss USA 2020 was postponed from spring 2020 to November 2020, and a number of 2021 state pageants were postponed from fall 2020 and winter 2021 to spring and summer 2021.[2]

One delegate is a former Miss Teen USA state winner, while one is a former Miss America state winner.
