Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi

Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi Sambhali is an Indian Sunni Islamic scholar.[1] He is founder of Al-Noor Public School, Sambhal[2] and has authored nearly 50 books.

Family background

Qasmi is a grandson of Ismail Sambhali who was a muhaddith and an activist of the Indian Independence movement.[3] Sambhali was Shaykh al-Hadith at Jamia Qasmia Madrasa Shahi, Moradabad in India and his students include Athar Mubarakpuri and Nizamuddin Asir Adrawi.[4]

Education

Qasmi studied traditional dars-e-nizami from Darul Uloom Deoband,[5] and graduated from there in 1994.[6] He gained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Jamia Millia Islamia and a Master of Arts degree in Arabic from Delhi University. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in hadith studies from Jamia Millia Islamia.[7][6]

Career

Qasmi established Al-Noor Public School in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh on 21 December 2018. The foundation stone was laid down by teachers of the Darul Uloom Deoband and Jamia Millia Islamia.[8] Qasmi’s articles have appeared in Monthly al-Bayyinat of Jamia Binoria.[9] Qasmi's articles also appear in The Inquilab, The Munsif Daily, The Siasat Daily, Urdu Times, Avadhnama and other Indian and Pakistani newspapers like Daily Jang[10] and Daily Express.[11]

Numerous articles of Qasmi have appeared on Jahan-e-Urdu.[12]

Qasmi also writes on his website, which was released in a function held in Riyadh[13] on 4 January 2013 by a number of Indian scholars.[7][14] Saudi Gazette in its report called the website a brain child of Qasmi.[15] At the launch program, Qasmi said, "Given the popularity of the Internet, many new websites with Islamic names are launched regularly, misinterpreting Islamic teachings. This website provides reliable Islamic content for users".[5]

Hajj-e-Mabroor

Qasmi launched Hajj-e-Mabroor application to help provide accurate information about Hajj and Umrah.[16] It was released in 2015 in by Muhammad Mustafa Azmi [1][17][18] The application has articles, books and videos of Qasmi in English, Hindi and Urdu covering various aspects of Hajj and Umrah.[18][19]

Literary works

Qasmi's set of 38 books was released by Muhammad Mustafa Azmi.[20] whilst his 6 books were released in Ansari auditorium of Jamia Millia Islamia by the former VC of JMI Talat Ahmad, Akhtarul Wasey and Abul Qasim Nomani.[21]
