Poonch Medical College

Poonch Medical College (Urdu: پونچھ طبی کالج‎) is a public medical college founded in 2013,[3] located in Trar Dewan, in suburban Rawalakot, in Poonch District, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.[4] The college is affiliated with the University of Health Sciences Lahore,[5] and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.[6] The college has two teaching hospitals: Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital in Rawalakot, and D.H.Q. Hospital in Hajira.[6]

Departments

Poonch Medical College Rawalkot departments are equipped with latest computer aided laboratories, Carl-Zeiss microscopes for the students and penta-head and deca-head microscopes for demonstration and research. The college has managed to maintain all the essential and specialized departments including Gynecology, Obstetrics, Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Pediatrics, Surgery, Orthopedics and Anesthesia.

In 2017, the college was ranked first among all affiliates of the University of Health Sciences Lahore in the MBBS exams.[5]

Building

Poonch Medical College lacks its own buildings and currently uses the buildings of the Polytechnic Institute, which lacks the necessary space to meet with the different requirements of medical education.

Hostels

This Medical College does not have a hostel.

PC1

Since 2013 its PC1 is not approved.

Recognition

Other than its affiliates, Poonch Medical College is recognized by the World Health Organization and is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.[3]

As Poonch Medical College is one of the affiliated College of University of Health Sciences Lahore Along with this affiliation College was also affiliated with Pakistan Medical And Dental Council now it's affiliated with Pakistan Medical Commission the successor organization of Pakistan Medical And Dental Council. As well as it is affiliated with college of physicians and surgeons of Pakistan for Post graduation.
