Sahil, Somaliland

Sahil (Somali: Saaxil) is an administrative region in northern Somaliland with the port city of Berbera as its capital. The region has a long coastline facing the Gulf of Aden to the north. Saaxil borders Awdal to the northwest, Maroodi Jeex to the southwest, Togdheer to the south and Sanaag to the east.

The region is inhabited by the Issa Musse sub-division of the Habr Awal Isaaq in western and southern Sahil, the Habr Yunis sub-division of the Garhajis Isaaq in southern Sahil, and the Mohamed Abokor and Musa Abokor sub-divisions of the Habr Je'lo Isaaq in eastern Sahil.[4]
