Professional wrestling career
Early career (2013–2019)
Guevara made his first appearance for a major professional wrestling promotion on January 5, 2013 for the National Wrestling Alliance.[9] He made his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) debut at the 2017 Battle of Los Angeles tournament where he got eliminated in the quarterfinals.[10][11] On April 7, 2015, Guevara wrestled a tag team dark match teaming with Tony Guevara in a losing effort against Los Matadores. At PWG's Bask In His Glory event in May 2018, Guevara faced the PWG World Champion WALTER in the main event for the title, but was defeated.[12] Guevara appeared in the fourth season of Lucha Underground.[13][14] He won the PWFP Ultimate Championship after defeating current champion Raja Naveed in Rumble in Pakistan on April 28, 2019.[15] However, he lost to championship due to not defending it for more than 340 days. On December 7, 2017, Guevara made his debut for Major League Wrestling (MLW).[16] He made multiple appearances for MLW's television program, MLW Fusion in 2018.[17]
Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (2018–2019)
Guevara made his Lucha Libre AAA World Wide debut at Verano de Escándalo 2018.[18] He won the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship at the Triplemanía XXVI annual event on August[19] before losing it to Laredo Kid on February 16, 2019.[20] At Triplemanía XXVII, Guevara teamed up with Scarlett Bordeaux in a match for the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship where they were unsuccessful.[21]
All Elite Wrestling (2019–present)
On February 7, 2019, Guevara was announced to have signed with the newly formed All Elite Wrestling (AEW).[22] At the promotion's inaugural event, Double or Nothing, on May 25, Guevara was defeated by Kip Sabian.[23] At Fight for the Fallen on July 13, Guevara teamed with MJF and Shawn Spears to defeat Darby Allin, Jimmy Havoc and Joey Janela in a six-man tag team match.[24]
On the premiere episode of AEW Dynamite on October 2, Guevara turned into a villainous character when he assisted AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz in attacking Cody and The Young Bucks,[25] creating a group that would become known as "The Inner Circle".[26] Later that night, Jericho said that Guevara looked like a “Spanish God”. Soon, that became his nickname. Guevara would begin a feud with Darby Allin leading into 2020,[27][28] all the while assisting Jericho in his rivalries and championship defenses.[29][30] At Revolution on February 29, 2020, Guevara was defeated by Allin.[31] He was again beaten by Allin in the first round of the inaugural AEW TNT Championship tournament the following month.[32] At Double or Nothing, The Inner Circle faced Matt Hardy and The Elite (Adam Page, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) in a Stadium Stampede match, but were unsuccessful in winning.[33]
On June 22, 2020, Guevara was suspended by AEW after it was revealed that he made an inappropriate comment about wanting to rape WWE wrestler Sasha Banks during a podcast in January 2016. He later made a YouTube video apologizing for the remarks and taking accountability for what he said. Later that day, Banks announced that she and Guevara were in contact with each other, that he had apologized to her, and that they had engaged in an "open discussion" to help him understand the severity of his comments.[34] The conditions of his suspension are that he was required to attend sensitivity training, while his weekly pay was be donated to the Women's Center of Jacksonville during the course of his suspension.[35] Guevara returned on the July 22 episode of Dynamite, disguised as Serpentico, as he interfered to help Jericho and Hager defeat Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus in a tag team match.[36][37][38]
After Matt Hardy defeated Guevara in a Broken Rules match at All Out, Hardy took time off until he was cleared to return, due to an injury sustained during the match.[39] He reunited with Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) as their manager, but was attacked backstage before their match on the September 16 episode of Dynamite.[40] The attacker was later revealed as Guevara and "The Elite Deletion" match was announced, taking place at The Hardy Compound in Cameron, North Carolina.[41] The match was aired on the Full Gear pay-per-view on November 7, with Santana, Ortiz, and Gangrel running to aid Guevara and Private Party and The Hurricane evening the odds for Hardy. After sealing off the interfering parties, Hardy defeated Guevara again, ending the feud.[42]
