Early life

Ashley Louise Urbanski was born in the San Francisco Bay Area suburb of Santa Clara County, California, on March 14, 1992.[5] She is of Filipino and Polish descent, and used to be a late night TV horror show hostess in the San Francisco Bay Area on KOFY-TV.[6]

Early career (2014–2019)

Urbanski began her career at Hoodslam in Oakland, California in 2014 as Missy Highasshit, a cheerleader valet for the Hoodslam stable Stoner U.[7][8] She also frequently appeared on the California independent scene, wrestling for promotions like All Pro Wrestling, Bar Wrestling, and Big Time Wrestling. In June 2017, she would face future fellow NXT wrestlers Candice LeRae and Rachael Ellering at APW Cow Palace Royale.[9]

Urbanski made her debut for SHIMMER on November 11, 2016.[10] In 2018, Blackheart began to appear at Impact Wrestling. At Evolve 137 on October 11, 2019, William Regal offered Urbanski a WWE contract during an unannounced appearance.[11][12] During her final few months on the independent circuit, she made a post on Twitter stating that she would like to obtain a miniature toy tank to ride to the ring.[13] The Chicago band AWEFUL gave her the tank as a gift for starring in their music video, which is why she named it Pocket the Aweful Tank.[14] She used the tank on two indie shows before signing to WWE. On a late January episode of NXT, she drove the tank to the ring and has used it in nearly every appearance since, including at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

Tough Enough (2015)

In 2015, Blackheart, under her real name, took part in the trials for the sixth season of WWE's competition Tough Enough. She was initially selected as one of 6 women who would take part in that season's competition, but had to withdraw from it before it began, due to a previously undiagnosed irregular heartbeat causing a failed medical. She would be replaced in the competition by Gabi Castrovinci, who ended up finishing in 10th place.

NXT (2019–present)

On October 15, 2019, it was reported that Blackheart had signed with WWE and would report to the WWE Performance Center.[15] Blackheart made her debut on a live NXT house show on December 5, 2019, losing to Chelsea Green. She made her televised debut on December 18 episode of NXT in a loss to Bianca Belair.[16] On the January 15, 2020 episode of NXT, Blackheart entered a battle royal for an NXT Women's Championship opportunity at NXT TakeOver: Portland, where she eliminated Shayna Baszler.[17] This led to a match against Baszler on the following episode, where Blackheart was defeated.[18] At the Royal Rumble, Blackheart entered the women's Royal Rumble match at number 26 before being eliminated by Baszler, managing to last until the final seven in the match.[19] Additionally, she was attacked backstage by Deonna Purrazzo after the match, resulting in a match between the two on the January 29, 2020 episode, where Blackheart defeated Purrazzo by hitting the Senton Splash.[20] On the June 17 episode of NXT, Blackheart teamed with Tegan Nox to challenge Bayley and Sasha Banks for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, but were unsuccessful.[21] On the July 15, 2020 episode of NXT, Blackheart lost against Indi Hartwell after interference from Aliyah and Robert Stone.[22] This led to Blackheart to run over Stone with her toy tank in the following weeks of NXT.[23]

On the September 16 episode of NXT, Blackheart challenged the NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai in a non-title match, but was unsuccessful.[24] At NXT: Halloween Havoc on October 28, she served as the host during that episode, getting involved in the renamed Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match ("Chairs" replaced with "Scares") for the NXT Women's Championship by brawling with a person in a Scream mask who was helping Shirai's opponent Candice LeRae; Blackheart stopped Scream Mask from interfering by back-dropping her onto a pile of steel chairs.[25] The following week, she lost to Toni Storm when she was distracted by LeRae on the Titantron who had stolen her tank and destroyed it after the match, leaving Blackheart horrified and devastated. The following week she cut a furious promo swearing revenge on LeRae, and Blackheart then attacked LeRae after her match with Storm, but this wasn't successful as LeRae was assisted by Scream Mask (revealed to be Indi Hartwell), and LeRae then finished Blackheart off with her Wicked Stepsister finisher. Blackheart then began to assemble a team consisting of Rhea Ripley, Io Shirai and Ember Moon for the Takeover: WarGames pay-per-view, where her team will face off against LeRae, Storm, Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai in a WarGames match, which Team Shotzi lost. Blackheart also debuted a new, upgraded tank at this pay-per-view.[26]
