Uivar

Uivar (German: Neuburg an der Bega; Hungarian: Újvár) is a commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of four villages: Pustiniș (Öregfalu), Răuți (Aurélháza), Sânmartinu Maghiar (Magyarszentmárton) and Uivar. Two other villages, Otelec and Iohanisfeld, which had been part of Uivar commune since 1968, were detached in 2008 to form Otelec commune.

At the 2011 census, 76.7% of inhabitants were Romanians, 17% Hungarians, 5.2% Roma and 0.7% Germans. At the 2002 census, 53% were Romanian Orthodox, 31.1% Roman Catholic, 9.1% Greek-Catholic and 3.9% Pentecostal.
