Young Wheezy

On September 19, 2020, "Young Wheezy" was first teased in an Instagram story by American record producer Turbo. Prior to the song, Nav and Gunna have teamed up multiple times, including on the songs "Codeine" (Nav, 2020) and "Nothing 4 Free" (Gunna, 2020). The repeating of the phrase "young Wheezy" is closely similar to American rapper and Gunna's label boss, Young Thug's 2018 track "Tsunami", in which he actually surpasses Gunna for the number of times in which he repeatedly uses the term.

The producer and songwriters are also exactly the same as Nav and Gunna's 2020 single "Turks", featuring American rapper and singer Travis Scott. The latter is the only exception of an additional songwriter on that song, and also provides additional vocals on "Young Wheezy", with his signature ad-lib, "it's lit".

Ben Boddez of Ben's Beat claimed that "Young Wheezy" is "lazily named after Gunna repeatedly drawling the producer’s name at the track’s beginning, and opens with a verse that sounds like absolutely nothing special until NAV destroys the energy even further with his Microsoft Sam vocal processing. When Gunna returns, you appreciate the bare minimum of his slightly more expressive cadence."[2] Milca P. from The Source opines that the song "opens up a familiar tracklist of the same formula that NAV has stuck to for years now. While his consistency is commendable, the lack of variety leaves room for uninspired reoccurrences."[3]

The official music video for "Young Wheezy" premiered on January 7, 2021.[4] Nav and Gunna both participate and are joined by Wheezy throughout the entirety of the video in a house party due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was ongoing at the time of the release of the song and video. The synopsis of it is based on the line that the former says in his verse, "Cost an arm and a leg just to see me perform", which entails a skit with guards asking people for arms and legs to go to his concert.[5] Additionally, Travis Scott also makes a cameo appearance in the video for only a couple seconds to perform his small two words.[6]
