Abdul Halim Bukhari

Bukhari was born in January 1945 in a village called Rajghata located in Lohagara in Chittagong District. His father's name is Abdul Gani Bukhari. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

He completed his primary and secondary education at Rajghata Hossainia Azizul Uloom Madrasa in his village. Then he was enrolled at Al Jamia Al Islamia Patiya and completed Masters in Hadith (Daura-e Hadith) in 1974. In 1975, he studied Bangla literature at the same university. He passed Alim and Kamil from Tangail Alia Madrasa, Fazil from Gopalpur Madrasa and HSC from Tangail Kagmari College. He graduated from Dhaka University. He also completed a two-year course on biochemistry at Dawn Homoeopathic College, Lahore. [11][1]

He started his career through teaching. He was the Arabic lecturer of Tangail Darul Uloom Alia Madrasa from 1967 to 1968. Then he joined Satkania Mahmudul Uloom Alia Madrasa. In 1972, he moved back to Tangail Darul Uloom Alia Madrasa. From 1972 to 1982, he served as a Muhaddith (shaykh of hadith). In 1982, he moved to Al Jamia Al Islamia Patiya. [1]

After serving as the Assistant Director of Jamia Patiya from 2003 to 2008, he was appointed Chancellor of Al Jamia Al Islamia Patiya in 2008. [1]

He is the Editor in Chief of Monthly At-Tawhid since 1982, Secretary General of Anjuman-e-Ittihadul Madaris Bangladesh since 1983. He is the current President of Organisation of Tahfizul Quran Bangladesh under Jamia Patiya. [1]

Organization of Islamic Conference Bangladesh was established in 1986 with the aim of organizing Islamic conferences all over the country. From its formation to 2015, he was the general secretary of this organization. After the death of Abdur Rahman Bangladeshi in 2015, he became the President. [12]

He is the Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited. [13] He was elected a member of the Advisory Committee at the Central Conference of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh on 15 November 2020. [14]

Bukhari was a disciple of Allama Ishaq, who was a senior successor of Mufti Azizul Haque in Sufism. [15]

He married Khalesa Begum, daughter of Maulana Ershad from Satkania, Chittagong. He has four sons and three daughters. Everyone in his family is involved in Islamic activities.
