Nefiye married Abdulmejid in 1851. Abdulmejid named her Ceylanyar,[1] and gave her the title of "Fifth Fortunate".[4] After her marriage, her sisters became ladies-in-waiting to her.[2]
On 31 March 1852, she gave birth to her only child, a son, Şehzade Mehmed Rüşdü in the Old Çırağan Palace. The prince died at the age of nine months.[4] The same year, she was elevated to the title of "Fourth Fortunate".
In early 1853, she was elevated to the title of "Third Fortunate",[5] and in 1854, she was elevated to the title of "Second Fortunate".[6]
