Hugpong ng Pagbabago

Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP; transl. Faction for Change) is a political alliance[1] in the Philippines that began as a regional political party.[2] It was formed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte In 2018. The party was established in support of her father President Rodrigo Duterte's government.[3][4] In July 2018, the Philippine Commission on Elections granted the accreditation of Hugpong ng Pagbabago. In addition to the party's alignment with the Duterte administration, Sara Duterte said that she formed Hugpong ng Pagbabago "to pursue the ideals of what we all want, a strong region, a secure life for our constituents, good governance and effective leadership of the members of the party."[5]

The party campaigned for candidates for senator endorsed by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte in the 2019 Philippine Senate election. Their plans to shift into a national party will depend on the success of their campaign to support pro-administration candidates in the elections.[6]

Senatorial slate

After the filing of Candidacy for the Senatorial Race, Mayor Sara Duterte released her initial 13 candidates for the Senate, which includes the names of former Senators Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada who were allegedly involved in the PDAF scam. After the Lakas–CMD forged an alliance with Hugpong on November 5, Duterte added Lakas candidate Dr. Willie Ong in the slate, and on December 4, the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino also joined Hugpong and included former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile in the list, making a total of 16 on the list.
