The following list presents the official temperature extremes recorded in Portugal by the Portuguese meteorological institute (IPMA) in official WMO stations.

Amareleja holds the record for the hottest temperature recorded in Portugal and Europe in the 21st Century at 47.4 °C (117.3 °F)
The Alentejo and Ribatejo regions and the Tagus and Douro river valleys tend to be where most of the hottest temperatures occur
