Internal selection

Luxembourg continued to participate at the contest, despite the string of bad results they had received. For the 1988 contest, RTL Télévision, the Luxembourgish broadcaster, continued to internally select their entry, choosing Belgian-born singer Lara Fabian to sing for Luxembourg with the French language song "Croire" (Believing).

At Eurovision

Fabian performed her song 17th on the night of the final, following Belgium and preceding Italy. Fabian received 90 points for her performance, placing 4th of 21 countries competing.
