Mallikpur railway station

Mallikpur railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway station on the Sealdah–Namkhana line with an approximate 22 kilometres (14 mi) distance from Sealdah railway station. It is under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. Mallikpur railway station is one of the busiest railway stations of Sealdah railway division. More than 80 pairs of E.M.U. local trains pass through the railway station on a daily basis. It is situated in South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Mallikpur railway station serves Mallikpur town and the surrounding areas.[1][2]

Geography

Mallikpur railway station is located at 22°23′51″N 88°26′00″E. It has an average elevation of 9 metres (30 ft).

History

In 1882 (1882), the Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in)-wide broad-gauge railway from Sealdah to Mallikpur.

Electrification

Electrification from Sealdah to Mallikpur was completed with 25 kV AC overhead system in 1965–66.
