Rampurhat Junction railway station

Rampurhat Junction railway station is one of the busiest railway stations of Eastern Railway zone. Coming under Top 100 booking station in India. Among the nine 'A' category (revenue 6–50 crore) railway stations of Indian Railways in West Bengal, Rampurhat Junction is one of them and the only "A" Category railway station of Birbhum district. The station is under Howrah Division & it is 207 kilometres (shortest route) away from Howrah Junction. This station is famous for its connectivity with the neighbouring states and also for the Hindu pilgrims visiting to Tarapith Maa Tara Temple which is just 9 km away from the station. The station has free WiFi facility & there are escalators for all the platforms and 2 foot overbridges. Station code RPH, is the railway station serving the city of Rampurhat in the Birbhum district in the Indian state of West Bengal.[1] Rampurhat station is connected to Kolkata, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Ranchi and almost every part of India. Many express and passengers trains pass through the Rampurhat station. It has an average elevation of 37 metres (121 ft). Nearest important railway junction is Bardhaman Junction and Asansol Junction.

Further extension

The track from Dumka to Rampurhat become operational in June 2015. The distance between Jasidih and Rampurhat is reduced by 140 km, from previous about 270 km via Asansol.[2]

Facilities

The major facilities available are waiting rooms, computerized reservation facility, reservation counter, and two-wheeler vehicle parking.[3] The vehicles are allowed to enter the station premises. The station also has STD/ISD/PCO Telephone Booth, ATM Counter, Toilets, Tea Stall and Book Stall. It also has a NON-AC Retiring room which can be booked online through http://irctc.co.in and also at the Office of the Senior Booking Clerk situated on platform 1.[4]

Platforms

Rampurhat station has six platforms and two additional platforms are now under construction. It is a standard on ground structure with roof. The platforms have two foot overbridges.
