Lake Gardens railway station
Lake Gardens railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway station on the Sealdah–Budge Budge line with an approximate 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) distance from Sealdah railway station. It is under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. Lake Gardens railway station is one of the busiest railway stations of Sealdah railway division. More than 45 pairs of E.M.U. local trains pass through the railway station on a daily basis. It is situated in Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. Lake Gardens railway station serves Lake Gardens and the surrounding areas.[1][2]
Geography
Lake Gardens railway station is located at 22°30′29″N 88°21′12″E. It has an average elevation of 9 metres (30 ft).
History
In 1890 , the Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in)-wide broad-gauge railway from Sealdah to Lake Gardens.
Electrification
Electrification from Sealdah to Lake Gardens was completed with 25 kV AC overhead system in 1965–66.
