New Garia railway station

New Garia railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway station on the Sealdah–Namkhana line with an approximate 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) distance from Sealdah railway station. It is under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. New Garia railway station is one of the busiest railway stations of Sealdah railway division. More than 115 pairs of E.M.U. local trains pass through the railway station on a daily basis. The Kavi Subhash metro station is adjacent to this railway station. It is situated in Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. New Garia railway station serves New Garia and the surrounding areas.[1][2]

Geography

New Garia railway station is located at 22°28′20″N 88°23′52″E. It has an average elevation of 9 metres (30 ft).

History

In 1862 (1862), the Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in)-wide recent broad-gauge railway from Sealdah to New Garia.

Electrification

Electrification from Sealdah to New Garia was completed with 25 kV AC overhead system in 1965–66.
