Mau is one of five assembly constituencies in the Ghosi (Lok Sabha constituency). Since 2008, this assembly constituency is numbered 356 amongst 403 constituencies. This seat currently belongs to Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Mukhtar Ansari who won in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Elections, defeating Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party candidate Mahendra Rajbhar by a margin of 8,698 votes.[1]
