Handia is one of five assembly constituencies in the Bhadohi (Lok Sabha constituency). Since 2008, this assembly constituency is numbered 258 amongst 403 constituencies.
Currently this seat belongs to Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Hakim Lal who won in last Assembly election of 2017 Uttar Pradesh Lagislative Elections defeating Apna Dal (Sonelal) candidate Pramila Devi by a margin of 8,526 votes.[1]
