Controversy

Misogynist remarks

Mullappally Ramachandran during a protest rally against the LDF Government in Kerala said, "Any woman with self-respect would end her life if raped or prevent being raped again". His remarks were aimed at a woman involved in the solar scandal who recently accused an Indian National Congress leader of rape.[2][3][4] [5]

His remarks were criticised by several political leaders and activists. K. K. Shailaja, Kerala cabinet minister, called his statements ‘dangerous’ and ‘inappropriate’. He had referred to Kerala's Minister for Health and Family Welfare, K. K. Shailaja as 'COVID Rani' (COVID Queen) and 'Nipah Rajkumari' (Nipah Princess).[6]
