Nathaniel Curtis House
The Nathaniel Curtis House is a Georgian style house at 600 Housatonic Avenue in Stratford, Connecticut. It is a 2 1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, five bays wide, with a central entrance, central chimney, and side-gable roof. A leanto section extending from the rear gives the house a classic colonial saltbox appearance. The main entrance is a framed by a Federal style surround, with pilasters supporting an entablature and full gabled pediment. Built c. 1735, it is one of Stratford's few surviving 18th-century houses. It was moved, by water, on a barge, in 1973, to its present location on the bank of the Housatonic River. Although the original foundation stones were not moved, the chimney was.[2]
