Tanker War

The Tanker War is a term that refers to skirmishes against merchant vessels in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz between 1984 and 1988, during the Iran–Iraq War.

Overview

The Tanker War was started by the Ba'athist Iraq.[1] Kuwait and Saudi Arabia allied with Iraq against Iran, while the United States intervened in 1986 to protect Kuwaiti tankers and subsequently was engaged with Iran.[2]
