History

Since it signed onto the air in 1968, WGEX has broadcast numerous music formats including classic rock, modern rock, adult contemporary, and pop, under numerous callsigns, including WMGR-FM, WJAD, WFXF, WLCL, WMXV, WKGL, and WRAK-FM.[1]

On December 26, 2011 at Midnight, WGEX changed their branding to "97.3 Hit Music Now".[3] On February 18, 2013, WGEX began airing Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.[4] On June 15, 2016, WGEX dropped the "Hit Music Now branding" and switched to "Power 97.3".[5]
