Incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator David Boren won re-election to a third term in a landslide over challenger Stephen Jones.[1] To date, it is the most recent time a Democrat has won a U.S. Senate seat in Oklahoma, though not the last time any Democrat won an office statewide as Brad Henry was reelected Governor in 2006. Boren later resigned his seat in 1994 to become president of the University of Oklahoma.[2]
