BreakTudo Awards

In 2017, BreakTudo Awards became the first Brazilian award[15][16] ceremony to put K-pop groups on its list of nominees. That year, BTS won International Group and Fandom of the Year, thus helping the popularization of K-pop music in Brazil.[17][18][19] In 2018, the MTV Millennial Awards Brazil and Prêmio Jovem Brasileiro also placed K-pop artists on their nominee lists.[20]

In 2020,[21] the awards were held on 24 October. The ceremony was broadcast from Telemilênio Brasil, and several Brazilian artists performed at the event. Among them were: Francinne,[22] Gabi Martins, MTK, RIELL, Nanda Loren, Pedro Arcafra, and Giovanna Bianco.[23][24]Brazilian singer and YouTuber Escarião hosted the ceremony.[25]

The 2017 BreakTudo Awards took place on 18 October. Twenty-two categories were voted on, beginning on 1 September and running until 15 October.[36] Singer Anitta was the most nominated artist.[37]

Part of the list of nominees was selected by the public through a vote that occurs normally in the month of May.[52][53][54] The full list of nominations for the awards was announced on 25 August through the official website. Anitta led the list with 5 nominations, followed by BTS, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Cardi B, and Camila Cabello, with 4 nominations each.[55][56]
