History

1995-1998: 95.5 MX

The station began operations on March 1, 1995 as 95.5 MX, carrying the slogan "The Rhythm of the City" (used by Y101 Cebu from 1980 to 1990s). It was the first 24-hour operating station at that time. The station carried with an all-OPM format. In a few months of broadcast operation, 95.5 MX would become the number one FM station in Cebu beating the other FM radio stations according to the Radio Research Council.

1998-present: Star FM

In April 1998, the station was re-launched as 95.5 Star FM, using English as its medium, but later switched to Cebuano four years after. It adopted a revolutionized programming, dubbed as the "#1 FM Station" in Metro Cebu as part of celebrated 100 years of Philippine Independence.

In April 2006, Star FM was re-launched its new logo and slogan, "Iba Ang Dating" while at the same time. However, in 2011, the station reduced its power of 10,000 watts.

On January 1, 2014, Star FM adopted the new slogan "Like Mo, Share Mo". On February 3, 2014, Bombo Network News began simulcasting in several Star FM stations. The network's flagship national newscast was made to compete with longer-established rival Brigada News FM National, a news and music FM station owned by Brigada Mass Media Corporation.

On the 1st quarter of 2016, Star FM started carrying the slogan "It's All For You", emphasizing more on music and using English and Filipino as its medium. From September 2016 to January 2018, Star FM operated with a transmitting power of 5,000 watts.

On January 11, 2018, after setting up its new transmitting equipment at the rooftop of the CBS Building, Star FM upgraded its power to 25,000 watts, resulting in an even clearer signal in Central Visayas and Leyte. At the same year, several Star FM stations licensed to Consolidated Broadcasting System transferred its licensee to People's Broadcasting Service.

In 2019, due to financial problems, Star FM reduced its daily broadcast hours to 19 hours, signing off at 11:00 PM.
