DYWF (93.1 FM), broadcasting as 93.1 Brigada News FM, is a radio station owned and operated by Brigada Mass Media Corporation, serving as the Visayas flagship station of Brigada News FM. The station's studio are located at 2nd Floor, Mariners Court Building, Legazpi Ext., Pier 1, Barangay San Roque, Cebu City, while its transmitter is located at 28th Floor, Winland Tower Condominium, Juana OsmeƱa Ext., Cebu City. It is a 24-hour operating station.[2][3]

History

  • The station was previously owned by Vimcontu Broadcasting Corporation, which began its broadcast on May 1, 1976 under the callsign DYLA-FM.
  • In 1992, the station changed its callsign to DYWF and was rebranded as Smash 93.1, carrying a Modern Rock and Bisrock format.
  • In 1997, Mareco Broadcasting Network acquired the station's airtime lease and rebranded it as Crossover 93.1, carrying a Smooth AC format.
  • In 2003, Vimcontu took full control of the station and brought back Smash 93.1. Crossover moved to the then-newly acquired 90.7.
  • On September 1, 2009, Smash 93.1 rebranded as Club Radio 93.1, carrying an all-dance format.[4]
  • On July 27, 2013, Brigada Mass Media Corporation acquired the station and reformatted it as 93.1 Brigada News FM, carrying a news and music format.

Ratings

Brigada News FM Cebu remains as the dominant undisputed over-all number one FM radio station in Cebu based on the recent surveys conducted by KBP-Kantar and Nielsen, and it continues to sustain its momentum as the dominant overall radio station, in terms of listenership in Cebu City, beating other FM stations of various formats in the market.[5]
