Football broadcast in India
Football broadcast in India is dominated by branded sports networks Star India and Sony India (on television) and Star India, Facebook India and Sony India on the OTT platforms.[1][2] Indian sports rights market was worth around $1.1 billion in 2019 (with the digital videos accounting for around 20% share).[2] However, non-cricket (football, kabaddi, tennis, badminton, and wrestling) events only represent 13% of the value of sports rights.[2][1] Football usually takes a distant second spot in Indian on-ground sponsorship revenue (around $20 million in 2019).[3] Television audience figures remain highly important in India (though branded sports networks are pay-television broadcasters, they generate a large portion of their revenue from advertising).[4]
