Background

Following several leaks, Dua Lipa released her second studio album Future Nostalgia on 27 March 2020.[1] The record was met with widespread critical acclaim and became commercially successful, reaching the summit of charts in 13 countries.[2] The album additionally spawned the UK Top 10 singles, "Don't Start Now", "Physical", "Break My Heart" and "Levitating";[3] the former and latter of which also reached the top 5 of the US Billboard Hot 100.[4] Following the album's release, Lipa teased the release of tracks that did not make it to the album's standard edition, stating "I have a couple of songs that I've worked on, and that I kind of put aside for a second wind, so that's all to be discussed".[5] Lipa further explained that she had always planned a reissue as she was very "cutthroat" when choosing the standard edition songs.[6]

In April 2020, she confirmed Future Nostalgia would receive a deluxe reissue and further teased it while serving as a guest Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen the following month.[7][8] In July 2020 after a fan commented on Lipa's Instagram hoping for the release of the Future Nostalgia B-sides, Lipa confirmed their release while also stating that she would be releasing a lot of music until 2022.[9][10][11] In the following months, she released a collaboration with J Balvin, Bad Bunny and Tainy titled "Un Dia (One Day)" and "Prisoner" by Miley Cyrus featuring Lipa that was included on Cyrus' Plastic Hearts (2020).[12][13] Future Nostalgia's remix accompaniment Club Future Nostalgia, a collaborative remix album between Lipa and The Blessed Madonna was released in August 2020; the album featured remixes of unreleased songs "Love Is Religion" and "That Kind of Woman".[14] In October 2020, Lipa released "Fever", a collaboration with Angèle which she described as an introduction to the B-sides.[6][15] In a YouTube chat with her fans for the release of the "Fever" music video, Lipa announced that the B-sides would be released in 2021.[16][17][18]

Lipa performed a livestream concert titled Studio 2054 in November 2020, where she performed an unreleased song with FKA Twigs and a remix of Kylie Minogue's "Real Groove" with her; the latter song was released the following month.[19][20] In January 2021, Lipa further teased the B-sides release with a post on social media with the caption "B-sides are on the way".[21][22][23] She further teased it through until the next month.[24] On 3 February 2021, Lipa announced the reissue's lead single, "We're Good",[25][26] followed by the reissue's announcement the following day as Future Nostalgia: The Moonlight Edition.[27][28]
