Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova

The Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova (Serviciul de Informații și Securitate al Republicii Moldova; SIS) is the principal intelligence agency of Moldova. Being the uniformed security police of the country, it mainly conducts intelligence and law enforcement activities within the framework of the law. From 1940 to 1999, the directors were army generals who either worked in the Committee for State Security of the Moldova SSR or the Ministry of National Security, both of which a predecessor agencies of the SIS.[1] From 2007 to 2009, its director was Artur Reșetnicov.[2] Since 2009, the director has been Gheorghe Mihai. Its seat is at Chișinău.
