List of UNESCO Global Geoparks in Asia

Asia [lower-alpha 1] is a leader in the geopark movement, together with Europe, in terms of historical development, organization and the number of geoparks as well. The following list only contains the UNESCO Global Geoparks of the continent, As of 2020, there are 60 member from 8 countries, of which 39 are situated in China.[1][2] Besides the UNESCO labeled geoparks, the national geopark networks / fora of the member states have several members with a national geopark designation (e.g. in China) and they oversee the application process from a national status to an UNESCO Global Geopark label. Further elements of the geodiversity of the continent is represented on the World Heritage list, under criterion VIII or VII.

Recognition of Asia's geodiversity under different international frameworks

World Heritage sites

Sixteen sites are represented currently on the World Heritage list under criterion VIII,[98] as an outstanding representative of Earth's history
