Train design

There is little difference between its older counterpart, the C810. However, its headlights are vertical instead of horizontal and luminously white instead of yellow installed on its predecessor. Its train number is underlined.[2]

Its interior design bear little difference compared to its older counterparts, one being that the LCD screen font is smaller and shows green messages (e.g.: Welcome to SBS Transit) instead of yellow-green in its older counterparts.

During two car operations, passengers cannot walk through the other carriage as there is no gangway in between. The only way is to alight from one car and board the other.

Train formation

The configuration of a C810A in revenue service is M

M 38 ft 10.1 in

The train cars can be coupled up to 2 cars during service.

The car numbers of the trains range from 42 to 57. Individual cars are assigned a two-digit serial number by the rail operator SBS Transit. A trainset consists of one motor car. For example, set 42 is car 42.

The serial numbers given are underlined, indicating they have the new signalling system.

Free replacement of bogie frames

On 9 September 2016, the Land Transport Authority and SBS Transit has made a joint statement that hairline cracks surfaced on 11 of the 41 older C810 trains which prompted the authorities to have bogie frame structure for all 57 train car running in the Sengkang LRT line and Punggol LRT line to be replaced once the manufacturer has redesigned and strengthened its bogie frames.[3]

In the joint statement, they have said that the manufacturer will bear the full cost for the replacement.[3]
