Tengah Depot

Tengah Depot (Malay: Depot Tengah; Simplified Chinese: 登珈车厂) is an integrated train and bus depot located in Tengah, Singapore. The train depot will serve as the maintenance and control centre of the Jurong Region line while the bus depot will serve a future bus package.[1] It is Singapore's 10th MRT depot.[2]

The facility will be located adjacent on a 44.5 ha (110 acres) site at the western part of the future Tengah planning area, bounded by to the Kranji Expressway and Pan Island Expressway.[3]

The depot is located between Hong Kah station and Corporation station on the main branch of the Jurong Region Line.

History

The depot is first announced by the Land Transport Authority on 9 May 2018 and is expected to be an at-grade depot located at the border of the new Tengah Planning Area.[4]

The Contract J101 for the construction of Tengah Depot and its associated facilities was awarded to China Railway 11 Bureau Group Corporation (Singapore Branch) at a sum of S$739.5 million in November 2019. Construction will begin in 2020, with an expected completion in 2026.[5][6]

Design

The depot includes a rail administration building, stabling yards, test track, storage warehouses and maintenance workshops. The administrative building will house the Operation Control Centre (OCC) and Depot Control Centre (DCC) for the Jurong Region line. The stabling yards have a capacity for 100 four-car trains, and stabling capacity supplemented by an additional stabling facility located off Peng Kang Hill Station.[7]

The multi-storey bus depot will be co-located with the facility and will provide parking and maintenance facilities for about 600 buses. It will also house a Bus Operations Control Centre. Within the site will be a four-storey transport workers' dormitory which can accommodate 450 bus captains.[8][9]
