- January 7 – The Senate trial on the removal from office of President Clinton begins.[1]
- January 19 – President Clinton delivers his annual State of the Union Address before a joint session of Congress.[2]
February
- February 12 – President Clinton is acquitted by the United States Senate on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice in a vote of 45–55 on the first article and 50–50 on the second article of impeachment, ending the impeachment trial.[3]
April
- April 20 – Clinton addresses the nation about the Columbine High School massacre.
