Triple J Hottest 100, 1998
The 1998 Triple J Hottest 100, announced in January, 1999, was the sixth such countdown of the most popular songs of the year, according to listeners of the Australian radio station Triple J. As in previous years, a CD featuring 36 of the songs was released. In August 1998 a Hottest 100 of All Time was conducted separate to normal countdown.
In February 2019, Triple J's sister station Double J conducted a 're-vote' of the 1998 top 10.[1]

2019 re-vote
After the year's Hottest 100 is played on Triple J, Double J plays the Hottest 100 from 20 years ago. In February 2019, after playing the Hottest 100 of 1998, Double J announced it would be giving listeners the chance to re-vote on "one of the most controversial Hottest 100 number ones ever".[2]
Listeners were able to vote for a single song that was a part of the original 1998 Hottest 100, via a poll on the website. Over 66,000 votes were cast.[1]
Notably, the original number one song retained its position, despite long-standing controversy, and only 2 songs of the original top 10 have made it into the new top 10.
