Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007
For the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, Finland will be acting as host of the Eurovision contest for the first time, after Lordi won in 2006. They were represented by Hanna Pakarinen with the song "Leave Me Alone". The song was composed by Martti Vuorinen and Miikka Huttunen, with lyrics by Martti Vuorinen and Pakarinen.

Hanna Pakarinen is a pop singer who came to fame by winning the Finnish Idols talent competition with 60% of the votes. She has had many hit singles and album successes behind her and is one of the most successful English language singers in Finland.
Before Eurovision
Euroviisut 2007
Euroviisut 2007 was the national final that selects Finland's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. The competition consisted of five shows that commenced with the first of four semi-finals on 20 January 2007 and concluded with a final on 17 February 2007. The semi-final shows were held at the Tohloppi Studios in Tampere, while the final was held at the Caribia Hall in Turku. The five shows were hosted by Heikki Paasonen and Jaana Pelkonen.
Format
The format of the competition consisted of five shows: four semi-finals and a final. Three acts with two songs each competed in each semi-final and one song by one act from each semi-final qualified to complete the twelve-song lineup in the final.[1] The results for the semi-finals and final were determined exclusively by a public vote. Public voting included the options of telephone and SMS voting.
Competing entries
Yle in consultation with record companies directly invited twelve artists for the competition. The competing artists were presented on 8 November 2006 and the competing songs were presented between 20 December 2006 and 5 January 2007.[2][3]

The first semi-final show took place on 20 January 2007 and one song per artist qualified to the final based on the results from the public vote. "Musta sulhanen" performed by Jani & Jetsetters, "Leave Me Alone" performed by Hanna Pakarinen and "Face In the Mirror" performed by Thunderstone qualified to the final.

Final
The final took place on 17 February 2007 at the Caribia Hall in Turku where the twelve entries that qualified from the preceding four semi-finals competed. The winner was selected over two rounds of public voting. In the first round, the top three entries were selected to proceed to the second round: "Leave Me Alone" performed by Hanna Pakarinen, "Anyone, Anymore" performed by Lovex and "Face In the Mirror" performed by Thunderstone. In the second round, "Leave Me Alone" performed by Hanna Pakarinen was selected as the winner.[4]

At Eurovision
As the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 and host of the 2007 Contest, Finland automatically qualified for a place in the final, performed 5th in the running order, following Ireland and preceding Macedonia She came 17th with 53 points (including a maximum 12 from Iceland and Sweden).
