Portugal was represented by Sabrina in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Dança comigo".

Before Eurovision

Festival da Canção 2007

Festival da Canção 2007 was the 43rd edition of Festival da Canção, the music competition that selects Portugal's entries for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Format

The format of the competition consisted of the final on 10 March 2007, which took place at the Pavilhão Atlantico in Lisbon. The competition featured ten competing songs submitted by producers who RTP invited for the competition. The producers both created the song and selected the performer for their entry.[1] Results were determined exclusively by votes from the public.

On 12 February 2007, RTP revealed the names of the ten producers that were invited to participate. The invited producers were:[2]

  • Luís Jardim
  • Luís Oliveira
  • Nuno Carvalho

Competing entries

10 entries participated in the 43rd Festival da Canção. The competing artists were announced on 15 February 2007.[3] The running order of the final for the ten participating entries was drawn on 22 February 2007.[4]

Final

The final took place at the Pavilhão Atlantico in Lisbon on 10 March 2007, hosted by Isabel Angelino and Jorge Gabriel. In the final ten entries participated, and the winner was determined exclusively by a public telephone vote.

At Eurovision

Because Portugal failed to qualify in 2006 Sabrina was forced to compete in the Eurovision semi-final of the 2007 Contest on 10 May 2007 performing 17th, following Czech Republic and preceding the Macedonia she came 11th with 88 points failed to qualify by 3 points.
