Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 1976

Israel took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 1976. The country was represented by Chocolate, Menta, Mastik with the song "Emor Shalom" written by Ehud Manor and composed by Matti Caspi. They was selected by Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) in an internal selection since then four years their début at the contest in 1973, the Israeli broadcaster, to represent the country at the contest, held in The Hague, Netherlands.

Before Eurovision

Internal selection

IBA announced Chocolate, Menta, Mastik as the Israeli entrant at the Eurovision Song Contest 1976. Chocolate, Menta, Mastik performed three songs during an internal final, hosted by Ehud Manor, and a jury chose the winning song, which was "Emor Shalom".

At Eurovision

The ensemble performed fourth on the night of the contest, following Germany and preceding Luxembourg. At the close of the voting, the song had received 77 points, placing Israel in sixth out of a field of 18 competing countries (the highest being 10 from Italy). The Israeli jury awarded its 12 points to the United Kingdom.[1] The Israeli spokesperson revealing the result of the Israeli vote in the final was Yitzhak Shim'oni.
