Nissan Motor Ibérica

Nissan Motor Ibérica S.A. is a motor vehicle dealer and automobile and commercial vehicle manufacturer with corporate headquarters in the Zona Franca industrial area of the Catalan city of Barcelona. Another of the company's assembly plants is located in Ávila in the Castile and León region. Parts are produced in Montcada i Reixac in the province of Barcelona and manufactured in Los Corrales de Buelna,[1] Cantabria. As of 2010, the number of employees at Nissan Motor Ibérica was 5200.[2] Production was 132,149 vehicles in the record year of 2008. Nissan uses the acronym NMISA for the company.

In May 2020 Nissan Motor Co announced the closure of its factory in Barcelona, resulting in the loss of about 3,000 jobs as part of a worldwide restructuring plan.[3] The Spanish government has estimated that shutting its Barcelona plant could cost Nissan more than 1 billion euros ($1.10 billion).[4]
