Changchun Rail Transit

Changchun Rail Transit, officially branded as Changchun Subway, is the rapid transit and light rail system in the city of Changchun, Jilin, China. Its first line, Line 3, is the first true light rail line in Mainland China. The system consists of a light rail line, two light metro lines and two rapid transit lines.

Construction of the first heavy-rail metro line, Line 1, started in 2011, and opened for service on 30 June 2017. Line 1 serves 15 stations and is 18.14 kilometers (11.27 mi) long.[2] Construction on the second heavy-rail metro line, Line 2, started in 2012 and opened for service on 30 August 2018. Line 2 serves 18 stations and is 20.5 kilometers (12.7 mi) long.

The current total length the network is 100.1 kilometers (62.2 mi)[3] with 93 stations. 3 sections of 3 lines are under construction.

Line 1

Huaqing Road station of Line 1

Line 1 is the first fully underground line in Changchun running in the north south axis of Changchun. Line 1's color is red.

Line 2

Nanguan station of Line 2

Line 2 is the second fully underground line in Changchun running in the east west axis of Changchun. Line 2's color is blue.

Line 3

Yatai Overpass station of Line 3

Line 3 is a light rail line in a S shape through Changchun. Line 3's color is green.

Line 4

South Ring Road station of Line 4

Line 4 is the first fully grade separated light metro line in Changchun. It runs north south mostly on elevated viaducts with an underground section in the north. Line 4's color is purple.

Line 8

Line 8 is a fully grade separated light metro line running entirely on viaducts. Line 8's color is teal.

Future Development

The Phase 3 (2019-2024) expansion of Changchun Rail Transit was approved by the NDRC on November 30, 2018. According to the plan, Changchun Rail Transit will be 235 km in length in 2024.[6][7]

  • 2020:  3  Grade separating the line between Liaoning Road station and Changchun railway station.
  • 2020:  3  Grade separating surface line from Furong Bridge station to Puppet Regime Palace Museum station.

  • 2024:[10]  6 : 29.57 km with 22 stations.[11]
  •  2  (Eastern extension): 10.6 km with 6 stations.[12]

  • 2025:  7  (Phase 1): 23.165 km with 19 stations.[14] Qiche Park - East Ring Road.

Planned

  •  3  (Southern extension): 3 km with 2 stations. Changchun Movie Wonderland - Changchun No.59 Middle School.[7]
  •  4  (Southern extension): 4 km with 6 stations. Tiangong Road - Yuanjiawopu.[7]
  •  9  (Airport line): 28.2 km with 8 stations. Zhaojiagang East - Jiutai South railway station.[7]
