Plot

Sai Joshi is a fearless, kind-hearted, studious, and short-tempered girl who aspires to be a doctor lives with her father Inspector Kamal Joshi in Gadchiroli, a village in Maharashtra. On the other hand, Virat Chavan, a Nagpur-based IPS Officer gets his first posting in Gadchiroli.

On a trip to Nashik, Virat meets Patralekha aka Pakhi. They develop romantic feelings but are unable to express them. As they bid adieu, Virat promises to call her. Virat meets Inspector Kamal Joshi and his daughter Sai. Virat misplaces Paakhi's phone number, making her feel cheated. Soon, she gets engaged to Virat's cousin, Samrath. Virat, despite of knowing this, asks Pakhi to get married to him. After the marriage, Samrath comes to know about their story and leaves the house, without telling anyone.

Later, in Gadchiroli, Kamal is shot by a local goon Jagtap Mane who is obsessive over Sai. Jagtap is the son of Vitthal Mane, a politician of Gadchiroli. Kamal on his deathbed asks Virat to care of Sai and Virat promises him the same. Devastated by her father's death, Sai tries to commits suicide but is saved by Virat. Under the pressure of villagers, Virat marries Sai. He tells Sai of his commitment to Pakhi and Sai agrees that she will not expect anything from him as from a husband. He also tells Sai that he will see her as his responsibility and will help her in pursuing her dream to become a doctor.

Vitthal files a lawsuit against Virat and accuses him of forcefully marrying Sai. Virat is upset with Sai as he thinks she was responsible for creating problems in his career. Pakhi tries to separate the couple by instigating Virat against Sai, however, Sai solves the matter by talking to Virat's senior officer. Virat forgives Sai and befriends her. Pakhi continues to force herself on both the couple, which causes Sai to finally tell her she should be focusing on worrying about her own missing husband and not Virat, Virat takes Sai's side. Pakhi realising that Virat is slowly changing, leaves the Chavan house the next day. The family blames Sai for the same and force her to apologise and bring Pakhi back to the Chavan house. To make Virat happy, Sai apologise to Pakhi and bring her back home. Sai clears the medical entrance exam with a good score and get admission in Nagpur's best medical college. Bhavani disagrees with Sai's admission to college as daughters-in-law of Chavan family aren’t allowed to study or work as per family, but Virat and his mother Aswini supports Sai to continue her studies. Bhavani along with other Chavans tries to teach Sai a lesson and create a plan to make Sai reach her college late on the first day itself. Virat however manages the situation and drops sai at her college in time.Seeing Sai and Virat coming closer day by day, Pakhi gets frustrated.

Virat's aunt Shivani is in love with Amay, who on the other hand is pretending to be in love with Shivani just for getting her money and is already married to another woman. Later Amay's wife comes to chavan house and creates ruckus accusing Shivani for enticing Amay. Sai defends a heartbroken Shivani and consoles her when the entire Chavan family lashes out at her for having an affair with a married man. Later, Sai exposes Amay in front of Chavan family, who is later arrested by Virat and is punished.

Sai continues her medical studies while struggling to win a place in the Chavan house. Virat gets emotionally attached to Sai seeing her efforts to help his family members along with her studies and unknowingly starts to develop feelings for her. Pakhi feels insecure by Virat-Sai's growing closeness and inflicts her frustrations on Sai at every opportunity she gets.
