Lego The Powerpuff Girls is a Lego theme based on the Cartoon Network television show The Powerpuff Girls of the same name, licensed from Cartoon Network. In 2017, the two packs released for the Lego Dimensions toys-to-life video game.[1] The theme was first introduced in 2018[2] and later discontinued.

Premise

The main focus of the line is The Powerpuff Girls features Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, three superheroes whose purpose is to reduce crime in between living a normal childhood.

Characters

  • Blossom: She is the leader of the Powerpuff Girls. Her appearance is similar to her original counterpart of the same name, with the exception of her ribbon, which is more rounded. She loves organization and hates when things are messy and out of order. She has a perfect attendance record and is an overachiever. Her unique abilities are ice breath, genius-level intelligence, microscopic vision, natural leadership skills, and intuitive aptitude. She also can project and manipulate bright pink energy, an ability her 1998 counterpart does not possess. Voiced by Amanda Leighton.
  • Bubbles: She is the sweetest of the Team. Bubbles has blonde hair and pigtails like her original counterpart, except with new blue hair ties and the pigtails being set slightly higher-up than previously. Bubbles is an animal lover like her 1998 counterpart and usually tries to save the day the nice way. Like her 1998 counterpart, she can be a bit naive but can also get angered very easily. When in bed she has Octi by her side. Her trail is blue with little circles. Her special abilities include telepathic communication with animals, zoolingulism, sound manipulation, sonic blasts, vocal mimicry, hypnotic singing, and multilingualism. She also can project and manipulate blue energy, an ability her 1998 counterpart does not possess. Voiced by Kristen Li.
  • Buttercup: She is the toughest yet goofiest of the Team. Her appearance is almost exactly like her original counterpart except she has a cowlick on the back of her head and a deeper voice. Buttercup is a tomboy who loves to get into action and likes to play sports, hanging out with boys and having fun like her 1998 counterpart, She has a fear of spiders like her 1998 counterpart as well. She has a temper that can usually get out of control. Her trail is green with little triangles. Unlike her two sisters, she does not possesses any special abilities of her own. However, she can project and manipulate green energy, an ability her 1998 counterpart does not possess. Voiced by Natalie Palamides.
  • Donny the Unicorn: He is a young unicorn who is best friends with Bubbles. Voiced by Josh Fadem.
  • Mojo Jojo: He is considered the arch-enemy of the Powerpuff Girls. He appears similar to his original counterpart. Like his original counterpart, he was originally the Professor's lab assistant and his main goal is none other than to destroy the Powerpuff Girls. Voiced by Roger L. Jackson.
  • Princess Morbucks: She is another enemy of the Powerpuff Girls. Princess comes from a rich family and uses money to get her way. She attends the same school as the girls. This version of Princess has a more mature personality than her original counterpart does and has a habit of flaunting her wealth, but still retains her rivalry with Blossom. Voiced by Haley Mancini.

Sets

In 2017, The Lego Group had a partnership with Cartoon Network.[3] It announced that The Powerpuff Girls Team Pack and Buttercup Fun Pack would be released on 12 September 2017 for the Lego Dimensions toys-to-life video game.[4][5][6] The 2 packs includes a Blossom, Bubbles, Octi and Buttercup as playable characters to unlocks additional The Powerpuff Girls-themed content in the Lego Dimensions toys-to-life video game.[7][8]

In 2018, it was a short-lived theme, as only two sets were released on 24 August 2018[9][10][11] based on The Powerpuff Girls TV series. The two sets[12][13][14] being released were Bubbles Playground Showdown (set number: 41287)[15] and Mojo Jojo Strikes (set number: 41288).[15] Bubbles Playground Showdown (set number: 41287)[15] is the first set features Princess Morbuck's mech suit and playground. The set contains 144 pieces with 3 minifigures and it costs £17.99 or $19.99. Mojo Jojo Strikes (set number: 41288)[15] is the second set features an ice cream stand, jewelry store and Mojo Jojo's getaway car. The set contains 228 pieces with 4 minifigures and it costs £29.99 or $29.99. Each of the sets features three core characters, named Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup.[16][17] Also included the super-villains are Mojo Jojo[16][17] and Princess Morbucks[16][17] for each of the sets. It's also designed primarily for children aged 6 to 12 years old. Later, it's announced that the theme was discontinued and no longer available at LEGO Store or online shop.

Video game

Lego Dimensions 2015

A pair of Powerpuff Girls-themed packs for the toys-to-life video game Lego Dimensions were released on September 12, 2017.[18][19][20][21] These include a Team Pack, containing playable Blossom and Bubbles figures and constructable Octi and PPG Smartphone items; and a Fun Pack, containing a playable Buttercup figure and a constructable Mega Blast Bot.[22][23] The packs add a new Powerpuff Girls-themed open-world area and battle arenas to the game.[24][25] Also, there was a crossover exclusive Teen Titans Go! episode for Lego Dimensions that included The Powerpuff Girls fighting the Gremlins in Jump City.
