For governance purposes it forms the local service district of the parish of Waterford,[3] which is a member of Regional Service Commission 8 (RSC8).[4]

Origin of name

The parish was said to be named after Waterford, Ireland at the suggestion of a local who considered it reminiscent of the road between his place and Sussex.[5]

History

Waterford was erected in 1874 from Sussex Parish.[6]

In 1875 the boundary with Hammond Parish was altered.[7]

Delineation

Waterford Parish is defined in the Territorial Division Act[2] as being bounded:

South by a line commencing at the southeast angle of Sussex Parish and running a direct course to the northeastern angle of lot fifty-five, granted to William Thompson aforesaid; thence south eighty-eight degrees east to the County of Albert; east by the County line; north by Cardwell Parish, and west by Sussex Parish.
